  • 12 lasagna noodles
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian sausage (sweet or spicy)
  • 15 oz whole-milk ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups marinara sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a large baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and Italian sausage until cooked through. Drain excess fat and stir in marinara sauce; let simmer for 10 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese with eggs, half of the Parmesan, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Start layering: spread a thin layer of meat sauce in the baking dish, add lasagna noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, half of the meat sauce, and half of the mozzarella. Repeat layers and top with remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.
